I hope Leah does not read this blog because this last weekend I met a new girl. She is a super beautiful red head! Luckily she doesn't mind that I have a kid...



If you look carefully, his left ear is red and swollen. He got bit by a stupid mosquito last night.

Here are some more pics of our totally awesome son. I hope no one gets too jealous. I promise that we don't leave him in his play toy all of the time. He does love it though. These are some of the subdued pics because all of the ones where he was laughing he was totally spazzing out and they came out blurry. You saw how spastic he can get from the video.

Judah Video!

Here is a short video of Judah playing in his thing. Hopefully it works. Sorry about the poor video quality. it was recorded on our webcam and then i had to compress it a ton in order to make it fit through Indonesian bandwidth in a relatively normal amount of time. Enjoy!

pictures and no words

I had a mohawk for about 5 days. It wasn't just any old mohawk. It was a Mull-Hawk. Half mullet and half mohawk. I shaved it for the Ultimate Frisbee tournament in Bali. I wore it to school and I am pretty sure the kids thought I was the coolest teacher ever!

Lombak Baby!

Here are some pictures of Judah from our trip to the island of Lombak. Actually we stayed on an island just off the coast of Lombak called Gili Trawangan. It was super peaceful and perfect for a relaxing 3 day weekend. To give you an idea of the place, there are no cars or motorbikes allowed on the island. Judah is really beginning to love the travelers lifestyle!



Judah is getting big and is becoming more and more attentive and inquisitive everyday. He smiles all the time. He is also beginning to get chubby, especially in the legs.

Boys Night!

Tonight it is just Judah and I...well a least for a few hours. Leah went to a girls only dinner party and left us two boys to fend for ourselves. It actually hasn't been too bad. We drank beer, listened to loud rock 'n roll, and talked about girls. He has his picking here as all the other babies are babes. However, it wasn't all fun and games. He did demand that I walk around the room basically all night and then refused to drink out of the bottle. But eventually he cried himself to sleep. However, in the few moments between crying and straining, I managed to trick him into smiling. Behold, the first ever photo of Smiling Judah! Enjoy!

Introducing...Judah

Here is the first blog, of many to come, about our new son Judah Francis Souder. We will update often, posting pictures and stories. To be honest this will be mostly pictures because, although we KNOW that our son is gifted he hasn't managed to do much more than eat, sleep and poop his pants. He is an exceptional burper though.

We have had such a wonderful 6 weeks with him. Every morning we wake up and basically laugh because of how weird it is to actually be parents. Sometimes it feels like the "real" parents will walk in the door any minute, we will be covered in pimples and they will pay us $15 for our time. I guess we all grow up eventually.



This week has been extra exciting because he is beginning to smile, and not just from farting, but from what seems like actual recognition of our faces. I have yet to catch a photo of it though because the moments are fast and usually quickly followed by the most overly-dramatic howl ever heard (no idea where he would get that from) or he quickly konks out for a nap.

We have many travel plans for Judah coming up this year. During his third week of life, we took him on his first plane ride to Bali, where we spent a week with my parents while they were visiting.
Sadly, Leah's mom visited shortly before my parents and all she got to do was stay in Jakarta, sit in traffic, and hang out at a hospital for 3 days. Thankfully though, she was here for the birth and helped us get through it with at least some sanity.

Everything is great over here. We miss you all and can't wait to see you again.
